Bio for Pastor Dennis Pond
I was raised in a wonderful Christian home. My mom and dad brought me to church and gave me a respect for God and the church. In my teenage years, however, the acceptance by my peers became far more important than God or my parents. During my second year in college God began to get a hold on my life, and on January 23,1968 I realized that all my righteousness was as filthy rags. At that point I confessed to God that I was a sinner and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. God immediately gave me a burden for ministering to youth and I spent the next four years preparing for full time youth ministry.
It was in college that I met my wife and we have now been married for 34 years. My wife and I spent 10 years in Indiana while I served as a youth pastor. In 1984 God called us back to Wisconsin where I pastored my home church for 14 years. The love for youth and youth ministry never diminished and in the fall of 1999 God led us to Calvary as the Pastor of Youth Ministries. Now my role has changed, and I am using my spiritual gift of mercy to care for the congregation and help meet its spiritual and material needs.
We love this church and the people here. I sense the freedom to worship and to be transparent in relationships and appreciate the gift of serving God here at Calvary.
My favorite verse of Scripture is Romans 12:1 " And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice-the kind he will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?"(NLT).
What a privilege to serve people and God here at Calvary!
