My conversion experience and call to ministry
I grew up in a church-going family and made a decision to trust Christ as my Savior and Lord at the age of 12. Unfortunately, I believed you lived the Christian life by trying harder and was thus quickly doomed to failure, defeat and frustration.
When I transferred to the University as a Junior, I began a search to find out if there was such a thing as truth. God led me to writings on evidence for the resurrection of Christ and as a result, I recommitted my heart to Christ and to following Him for the rest of my life.
Through my involvement with CCC at Stanford, I begin to understand that the Christian life is lived by the power of the Holy Spirit, not my own power, and saw many significant changes in my life. Selfishness replaced by love, worry replaced by peace, lust replaced by pure thoughts.
Because of all God had done in my life, I began to think of how I could give back to Him as I neared graduation. I decided that the average college students struggled with the same questions I had seen God answer for me. Thus, I committed two years of my life to working with CCC, reaching college students with the gospel and discipling them.
After two years, as I prayed about my future, I sensed God whispering to me that this is what He had created me to do and so submitted to His best of using my life in college ministry.
I was ordained as an Evangelist by the Evangelical Church Alliance in 1985 after an ordination council talked through with me my call to ministry and core beliefs.
My Leadership experience
Local Leader with CCC for 32 years (leading staff teams, planning strategies of evangelism and discipleship, special event planning, fund development, speaking)
Have led Summer Missions Projects, Leadership Development Projects, been a part of the Coordination Team for CCC’s US Staff Training.
On the Board of Stewards, Evangelism Team leader, Prayer leader, Sunday School Teacher, Small Group leader at Salem Baptist
Connection Group Team Leader, Connection Group leader, Capital Campaign Coordinator at Calvary Baptist
My call to Eldership at Calvary
I have always wanted my life to count in a maximum way for the Kingdom of God. I want to be obedient to fulfilling Christ’s Great Commission. I know God has ordained the local church to be at the center of sharing the gospel and building disciples and because of our love for Calvary and our brothers and sisters there, after prayer with my wife Tamara, we sensed God wanting me to make myself available to use my gifts to serve on the Elder Team. Specifically, I feel called to help shepherd the body at Calvary, allowing God to work through me to see us become all God wants us to be.
