Jeff and Nancy Prior:
Serving in Colorado
Briefly describe your ministry:
We are on staff with Athletes in Action (AIA) which is the athletic ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. We start our 36th and 31st year in ministry this year and we still feel like we are serving out of the “sweet spot” of our gifts and calling. I (Jeff) still have a hands-on presence at Colorado State University (CSU) with the men and women college athletes and coaches that we meet with. I also serve as the regional director for the Great Plains and Upper Midwest and the staff that we have at those schools so I feel like I/we have a great balance in our ministry. For those that may not know us, I was the Campus Crusade Director from 1975-78 at UWEC, which is when I attended Calvary before I married Nancy in 1979. We served at the University of Wisconsin for 15 years.
What ministry opportunities did you have over the summer?
We direct the Ultimate Training Camps for Athletes in Action here in Fort Collins and Colorado State University. These Camps are designed to teach men and women college athletes how to integrate Biblical principles into their sport and life. The 2008 Camps were truly some of our best as the Lord changed many lives and drew at least 8 college athletes to Himself in salvation. We usually get 3 or 4 seniors who give their lives to serving the Lord full-time vocationally as well. One of the athletes who interned with us was Josh Horforty, a wrestler from UWEC so it was great having Josh come out to serve at our Camps.
Please provide an update on your family:
Holland is still in graduate school at Azusa Pacific University in religious studies and hopes to continue her education at the doctorate level. Brett is just now going into his senior at Fort Hays State University where he is majoring in industrial operational psychology and is getting ready for his senior year on the football team where he plays linebacker. Brett walks with the Lord and is hoping to go to graduate school as well.
