Curt and Lalia Kregness:
Brazil, South America
Briefly describe your ministry:
Curt and Lalia equip and challenge Brazilian church leaders through literature and small group ministry. Curt is also the World Venture field leader. Lalia speaks to women’s groups, usually in homes. Curt is teaching New Testament Greek at a small Bible college and Lalia continues to translate books from English to Portuguese. Right now she is working on a manual for women’s ministry. She has also visited a women’s prison facility with a group of women from the church. Curt is editing and proofreading manuscripts in Portuguese, cleaning up the text before it goes into final production. An exciting new project for him is working on a new and improved cross reference system for a study Bible which will be published in 2010. So far, he has completed the books of Matthew and Nehemiah and is now in the middle of the book of Luke.
Briefly share a recent example of how God has been at work in your ministry:
One of the couples we have been praying for remarked recently: “We want to visit your church sometime soon.” This is not because we have been “advertising,” but just through the work of the Spirit and steady friendship with no strings attached. Also, regarding finances, we have had a rough time these past 2 years, with the sorry state of the U.S. dollar. But we have been repeatedly surprised by God when we have had extra funds to give to people in need, like a Brazilian short-term missionary to Spain and mission colleagues who were in worse shape than we were!
